“On Air: Purity, Pollution & Corruption” (2024, 25 min.). The plot of this experimental sci-fi short film is partly based on ideas of the artist and occultist Marjorie Cameron (1922–1995).
The work is set in Paris in the year 2047 and revolves around a cult whose belief is grounded in the unwavering conviction that Jesus Christ had a secret twin sister. Countless descendants are said to have come from the female Messiah—including Joan of Arc, who was burned as a witch and has since been reincarnated in various forms and is destined to lead the world to peace at a specific moment. Drawing on the life of the historical Joan of Arc, the artist envisions a speculative, violent future in which she humorously explores the plausibility and para-fictional experiences of a female Messiah. “On Air: Purity, Pollution & Corruption” can be understood as an eco-feminist counter-narrative to the widespread pop-cultural stereotypes of witches and stands out with its extraordinary cinematography, evoking the effect of a fever dream.
